What are your thoughts with this baby name idea?

My husband thinks this isn't right, but we are having a boy in Feb. and he likes Michael for the first name, I like it for the middle. I told him if we are lucky enough to have another boy, why don't we name one of them Michael for the first name and then the next one can get Michael for a middle name. What's wrong with that? Its not like a middle name is used all the time he said we can't have two Michael's when its not in my mind. What do you guys think? Thanks

Reply:I don't like that idea. What happens if you don't have another boy. Will one of you resent the other? You can't ever know how many children you will have or what the sex will be.





Start making lists of other names you like, then see if it sounds better with Michael as a first or middle name. Just as an example, I like the sound of Jonathan Michael better than Michael Johnathan.
Reply:I don't think there is anything wrong with that. I have a friend who gave her sons both the middle name of Joseph (which was the father's middle name). My 5 cousins (boys and girls) were all given their moms maiden name of Fellows as their middle name. I think you can do whatever you want to do as far as names go. Michael is a great name. My brothers name is Michael and it seems like most Michael's end up going by Mike when they get older any way. You could also give the second boy a double middle name... like Shawn Michael. But any way... I think it would be neat to have two boys named like that. =)

I always thought it was weird. The 3rd boy having both his brothers' names as his name. Why would they want to use it twice?

Usually, when you use someone else's name as a middle name, it's to honour them. It's just weird for the poor kid to have his brother's first name as his middle name. Give him his own name.
