Whether it is a current trend or a trend from years past.
Which one makes you cringe?
I cringe at the "ton" trend names. Colton, Peyton, Leighton, etc.
What is your most hated baby name trend?
I can't stand all the -aiden boy names: Hayden, Caden, Jaden, Grayden, etc. I also hate how all these trashy girls are adding -lyn to the end of names: Kaylyn, Jazlyn, Daelyn, Haylyn, etc. YUCK.
Reply:my personal baby name peeve is simply when parents over try to pick a name that sounds original. the odds that nobody else in the world will have the same name as your kids is slim to none.
and when people usually do come up with an original name, in writing it looks as though somebody just pressed as many keys on a keyboard as they could and decided that what came out would be their name.
when people usually come up with a name that's original they end up coming up with one that just about everybody else has.
i say just pick a name you like for your kid and don't worry if it's original or not.
Reply:Aiden/Aaden, Braden/Brayden/Braeden, Kayden/Caden/Cayden/Kaden, Hayden, Jaden/Jayden, etc. Those are SO trendy right now, and I feel awful for the children with these names. Their names will be SO dated when they are adults. There's going to be a million little boys/girls in every kindergarten class in about five years with the 'aaden' sound in their name. Ick! C'mon, people, have some originality!
I also hate the trend where the 'i's in a name are being replaced with 'y's. Like Ryley, Jaymes, Caitlyn, etc. Ugh, that is SO trailer trash and it makes the parents look so illiterate -- and THEY think they're being 'unique'!
Reply:MacKenzie, that one just gets me everytime. I don't like it at all. I like the name Kendra, but that's as far as it goes for me. I don't care for the variations of it. I like unusual names, but when everybody uses it to be unique it gets old fast.
Reply:I agree with some of the other people on the "ton" names and "aden" names.
However I'd like to also add the Twilight names. In a few years there will be classrooms full of Bella's, Edward's, Jasper's, Rosalie's, etc.
Reply:People sticking two or more names together to make some ridiculous new name.
These Frankenstein monsters of names must be stopped! Where's a bunch of villagers with burning pitchforks when you need one?
Like Marjorie + Averil = Marveril.
Reply:Oh, I like Peyton! :( Anyways, I hate all the common ones like Aiden, Jayden, Madison, Rose, Olivia, Emma, and the list goes on. They're all very pretty but way over used.
Reply:I like Colton, because it's not that common.
Made up names, or ignorant people, mispronouncing names like Ciara, and people claming that unisex names are effeminate ie Jamie %26amp; Rory.
Reply:I'm really annoyed by any trend that involves taking a name and tweaking it with "creative" spelling:
Airicka
Krystofer
I especially hate names that include an apostrophe:
Shi'Ann
D'amica
Reply:Spelling names incorrectly, y's instead of actual vowels, boys names for girls, Neveah, making up your own name. They're all trashy.
Reply:the -son trend:
Jamison, Garrison, Harrison, ect.
Those are surnames, not first names.
I also HATE the -ton trend.
Reply:Stupid trend of ending everything in "dan/den" - Aidan, Brayden, Cayden, Jayden, Hayden, etc.
Reply:AHH!
Kayden/Cadan, Jadan/Jayden, Brayden/Braden, Aiden/Aidan,
I hate the EN-AN trend too! It seems like people just put it at the end of everything....
ANNOYING TO THE MAX.
Reply:The most annoying one i've ever seen was replacing all "i"s in a name with ys.
It just makes the mother look illiterate.
Reply:I hate the Aidan and crew, and boy names on girls make me cringe. Why on earth would you name your daughter Dylan, Riley, Madison, Finley, or Michael? Ick! Misspelled names are the most obnoxious thing on the planet. There are accepted variants of names, like Emilia and Amelia, Catherine and Katherine and Kathryn, but what's so awesome about Mikayla and Ryeleigh?
Reply:Inventing the strangest spellings for a name just to make it unique.
Reply:I just hate it when people name kids after celebrities with odd names.
Reply:Courtney!!whitney!!britney!!
Aiden caden etc
really dont like them
Reply:Aiden Jaden Braden Caden Hayden
Reply:i hate...
bethany. its soooo creppy.
i love erin, claire, caroline
Reply:All the names that rhyme with Aiden. Just too many!
And "Nevaeh" makes me crazy.
Reply:tiffany courtney sandy
ughhh
Reply:margrett
dominic
barry
Reply:WOW! Some of these answers are pathetic.
I can't believe you guys are bashing these names, It's kind of stupid. I mean, all the names that are made up and with "y" %26amp; "i" switched are all unique. They aren't annoying. It makes the person an individual, if anything.
