Did anyone dislike your baby name choice?

When you announced the name of your baby, did anyone express any negative opinions about it? Just wondering what other mothers have done in this situation, and how common it is.

Did anyone dislike your baby name choice?
well i know i looked at the baby name section and someone asked about how people felt about the name jaelyn and to my surprise, a lot of people thought it was "skanky" or "trashy" i dont feel that way at all. i love the name. everyone i meet in person always comment on how pretty the name is (of course they wouldnt say anything negative to my face) but it would really hurt my feelings if they did. people can be so rude.
Reply:My fiance's mom is the one that has the most problem with our son's name. It's Kenneth Ryan, we call him Kenny right now. She thought we should have named him after my fiance's uncle that passed away, which would have been the mom's brother.

I didn't like the name of Alan, simply because we have 5 in our family. And Kennth Ryan is named after the grandpas, Kenneth is his dad's name and Ryan is mine.
Reply:No one has ever said that that they dislike our sons name but I can tell by a lot of peoples reactions that they don't particularly like it. His name is Brady and we think it's adorable but sometimes I do get my feelings hurt when people act like they think it's a bad name.
Reply:I never really had anyone tell me they hated it, but I could tell by peoples responses that they didn't like it. My sons name is Lane, we named him after Lane Frost for various reasons. But no one really likes it, and I have to admit I'm not that fond of it, but my fiance insisted that be his name. Just for fun I asked a while back what people thought of the name, and everyone but a few thought it was awful :(
Reply:Yeah, a few people actually...But you know what I said to them??

Well, its my baby, and I like the name. You got to name your children and now its my turn to name mine.

It doesnt matter who likes it or who doesnt. As long as you like it, and your husband, thats all that matters. Its YOUR child!

btw- my Daughters name Is Kenzie
Reply:yes my aunt actually started a family feud over it.. she hated that i named my daughter kilee bc her sister named her daughter kylie. if my daughter was a boy she would have been Colby instead and my sister hated that name so much that on myspace made posts bashing it.
Reply:I've had quite few people say they either didn't like the name or thought I should spell it different. I love the name Jaxon, and I love the way it is spelled. People's opinions don't matter to me on this b/c I love it and I think my son will enjoy having this name. So there! =P
Reply:My mother in law didn't like either names I picked for my girls (Hayden and Cameron). I was going to think of other names but in the end I decided as long as my husband and I liked it....it didn't matter what everyone else thought.
Reply:Some of the names my hubby and I picked for our baby people think are silly but we chose them for good reason. No one name will please everyone, unfortunately.
Reply:my dd is jocelyn --everyones 1st response was like jocelyn elders? im pretty conservative- so baby was not named after her- it kinda makes me cringe when people say that?
Reply:YES! No one seems to like our baby's name-- it's Theodore Jack, although he will not "go by" Theodore. We call him Teddy or Ted. I personally love it.
Reply:YES all my family and his hated my son's name at first. I named my son Seth and no one liked it.

But now everyone loves it.
Reply:Oh yes, lol. I got a lot of distain from my family and friends from naming my son Hurley. Oh well. Its my husband's grandfather's name.
Reply:My father hated my sons name.. I told him to deal with it or don't bother talking to us.
